Our Committment to DEI

We, the Aurora Township Democrats, firmly stand in support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). We recognize diversity as the vibrant tapestry of our community, encompassing differences in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, and ability.

Equity is not merely an ideal but a fundamental necessity. We are committed to ensuring that every individual, regardless of background, has equal access to opportunities, resources, and power. This requires addressing systemic barriers and historical injustices that have hindered marginalized groups from full
participation in society.

Inclusion lies at the heart of our community. We believe every voice deserves to be heard, respected, and valued. We strive to make all feel welcome, safe, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and talents.

The Impact of DEI Extensive evidence demonstrates that DEI initiatives yield positive outcomes for individuals and society as a whole: Public Life: DEI fosters equity and inclusion by addressing historical injustices and promoting fairness. It strengthens communities through social cohesion, challenges biases, and encourages personal growth.

Health & Education: The National Institutes of Health acknowledges DEI’s role in remedying disparities in education and medical research. Schools with diverse faculty often see higher graduation rates among minority students, while DEI cultivates cultural understanding and workforce adaptability. Workplace Success: Research from McKinsey & Company and Harvard Business Review shows that companies with strong DEI practices outperform peers in profitability, innovation, and employee retention. Organizations with mature DEI strategies also gain competitive advantages in market share.

As Democrats, we will leverage our influence and resources to advance DEI in education, healthcare, employment, housing, and public services. We advocate for policies that promote diversity, eliminate discrimination, and build a more inclusive and equitable Aurora Township for all.
